What's new in Version 6?

This page provides a user-orientated overview for experienced users of Version 5.

Home Page

  • The Office Directory has been replaced by the Address Book with changed functions.

  • The Project Directory has been removed from the Home Page and is now a sub-form of the Project Form.

  • A  Project Status  selection box has been added. This applies only to the three sections below the selection box, e.g. the Document Management, Project Management, and Schedules sections. The selection defaults to ‘Active’ projects. For more information on Project Status refer to the Project Form Help page.

  • The  Show more  button reveals all three types of Special Table and replaces the various selection boxes on the V5 Home Page.

  • The  Admin Info  button is used by database administration staff for testing and de-bugging. Users may sometimes be asked to return to the Home Page and activate the 'Admin Info' to assist administration staff in de-bugging errors.

  • The 'Close Database' button has been removed. You now close the Database using normal Windows commands, e.g.  File > Close  on the toolbar, or the  X  in the top right corner of the active window.

  • Throughout: There are now separate buttons for use when filtering either  Text  or  Date .

Address Book

  • Replaces the Office Directory in V5.

  • Allows you to search by Company, Company Role, or Contact.

  • Most functions of the Office Directory in V5 are now available from the  Edit  view of the Address Book. The only exception is the adding of companies and contacts to projects, which is available from the  Add a company...  and  Add a contact...  buttons on the  Edit  view of the Project Directory in V6.

  • Go to the Address Book Help page.

Projects/Companies/Contacts

Generally

  • The navigation functions in the white banner at the head of each view have changed. To find a specific selection you now choose the view-sensitive Search criteria, type in your requirements, and select  find now . You may, alternatively, select  show all  but you should be aware that this may take rather longer to display than the equivalent action in V5.

  • The Project/Company/Contact forms all have a revised ‘card index’ style for the sub-forms. With the exception of the Project Directory, the displayed information is essentially unchanged.
